Punta Corvo is a beach that will remain in your head for a long time: a transparent water to see the seabed, the sand of very small black pebbles contrasts the blue of the water and the green of the Mediterranean scrub all around. In the background the Golfo dei Poeti with Tellaro, Portovenere and the islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto. A very wild beach.
It can be reached in two different ways from La Dimora del Borgo Antico, through the boats that leave daily in the summer from Bocca di Magra and Fiumaretta, or through the characteristic path that starts from the village of Montemarcello and goes down to the beach of Punta Corvo.
Punta Corvo, a wild beach
A swim in the crystal clear waters of Punta Corvo surrounded in the Mediterranean scrub
The path is for everyone if equipped with a good pair of sneakers and a water bottle. There will be some steeper sections but still possible if faced with calm and patience. The track will be completely immersed in the Mediterranean scrub, the views that will open along the way will be something unique and the scents will inebriate you all the time. Arrived on the beach the show that will open to your eyes will repay you for all the effort.
We start from the village of Montemarcello, a small characteristic village with small streets and stone houses that deserves to be visited even for a few minutes before leaving for the path.
We take path 436 at the foot of the town and begin to descend slowly; the scents of jasmine and maritime pine keep us company with the beautiful Portovenere in the background. After about 200 m we enter the wooded Mediterranean scrub. We continue to descend gradually for about 10 minutes and at times truly incredible views will open up to us. At this point we will find ourselves in front of a clearing, from here the descent will consist of more or less 700 steps, “only” 700 steps separate us from the beach. The path becomes a little steeper so be a little more careful but nothing that cannot be done if properly equipped.
After about twenty minutes of descent our feet will sink into the sand and the typical spectacle of this beach will be presented to our eyes. With still in the nose the scents of the Mediterranean scrub we can admire the crystalline blue of the sea crashing against the black sand with an incredible play of colors and in the background the wild Mediterranean scrub and Portovenere with the islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto.
The Punta Corvo beach is still unspoiled and therefore has no bars or bathing facilities, so bring everything you need from home. Remember beach umbrella and sunscreen because the sun and black sand, especially at lunchtime, burn a lot.
ATTENTION! CLOSED BEACH DUE TO HYDROGEOLOGICAL RISK!
